- the hanging cheek bit is a variant of the eggbutt snaffle with smaller eyelets attached above the rings
- the cheekpiece is strapped to the upper eyelets and the reins are strapped to the eggbutt snaffle
- this creates a certain leverage effect by the bit
- mouthpiece made from characteristic blue Sweet Iron
- the material develops a sweet-tasting surface rust on contact with moisture
- this naturally stimulates the horse’s saliva production and increases the acceptance of the bit
- in addition, the horse shoots more and the contact is improved

Note: If not used, a thin, orange-brown rust layer develops on the mouthpiece, this can be removed with a damp cloth and does not represent a quality defect.
