Description
Stübben Steeltec Double Broken 3-Ring Bit Sweet Copper
- the 3-Ring Bit (double broken) offers an adjustable leverage effect depending on the rein position
- the rider can vary the pressure on the mouth and poll to achieve the desired control
- the double jointed mouthpiece distributes the pressure evenly over the tongue and bars
Note: Any bit can cause pain if used roughly or improperly. The wrong size can also be painful for the horse.
Material
- 90 % sweet copper, 7 % iron + aluminum (hardened)
- rings: stainless steel
- ring diameter: 70 x 130 mm
- mouthpiece: double broken
Care instructions
- clean under running water after every ride
- dry with a towel
Size guide
- if a well-fitting bit is already available, this can be used as a reference for the correct size
- alternatively, measure the width of the horse’s mouth: place a bit ruler or a soft string in the mouth at the later bit position
- mark the ends and then measure the distance
- the bit width should be chosen so that the rings are just outside or slightly above the corners of the mouth
- if the bit is too narrow, it can cause pressure points
- if the bit is too wide, it can slip sideways
- in the case of bits with freely movable rings, there should be about 1 cm clearance on each side so that the rings can move freely without pinching the lips
