Size guide
- a well-fitting bit can serve as a reference for the correct size
- alternatively, measure the mouth width:
- place a bit gauge or soft string in the mouth at the intended position
- mark the ends and measure the distance
- correct bit width: the rings should sit just outside or slightly beyond the corners of the mouth
- bit that is too tight: puts pressure on and can cause pressure marks
- bit that is too wide: shifts around in the mouth
- bits with freely moving rings
- allow for about 1 cm of play on one side
- prevents the lips from getting pinched and allows for free rotation
