- what makes this bridle special is its oval tongue slot, which is ideal for horses with a flat palate and a thick tongue
- Baucher bits differ from loose ring bits in that they are securely fastened to the bridle
- this has the advantage that the bit sits much more calmly in the mouth
- the bit exerts its effect toward the corners of the mouth, thereby enhancing the lifting action
- a Baucher bit does not sag downward and can only be pushed minimally toward the canines and incisors
- when the reins are pulled, the strap to which the bit is attached turns outward
- this prevents any leverage effect
- however, since the bit itself has a sharp effect, it should only be used by experienced riders
