Size guide
- a bit that already fits well can serve as a reference for the correct size
- alternatively, measure the mouth width:
- place a bit gauge or soft string in the intended position in the mouth
- mark the endpoints and measure the distance
- selecting the correct bit width: the rings should sit just outside or slightly beyond the corners of the mouth
- bit too tight: causes pressure points
- bit too loose: sits unstable and shifts in the mouth
- bits with freely moving rings:
- allow approx. 0.5–1 cm of play on each side
- prevents the lips from getting pinched and allows for free rotation
