Stübben Steeltec 2-in-1 Full Cheek Bit
- these full cheek bit offer two levels of action in a single bit
- depending on how they are fitted, riders can choose between a softer, rounded side for gentle contact or a more angular side for more precise control
- the double broken mouthpiece distributes pressure evenly across the tongue and bars, and the shanks provide clear guidance
- if the more angular side of the bit is fastened toward the horse’s tongue, the bit pressure is more focused
- if the rounded side of the bit is fastened toward the horse’s tongue, a gentler effect is achieved
- if you see a + on the outside left side of the bit (on the side facing the horse’s mouth), the more effective side is facing the horse
- if there is no mark there, the softer side is facing the horse
- occasionally switching the direction of the bit prevents the horse from getting used to it and becoming desensitized
Note: Any bit can cause pain if used roughly or improperly. The wrong size can also be painful for the horse.

Size guide
- a bit that already fits well can be used as a reference for choosing the correct size
- alternatively, measure the mouth width: Place a bit gauge or soft string in the intended position in the mouth
- mark the ends and measure the distance
- the bit width should be chosen so that the rings lie just outside or slightly beyond the corners of the mouth
- a bit that is too tight can cause pressure
- a bit that is too wide can shift sideways
- for bits with freely moving rings, allow for approx. 1 cm of clearance on one side so that the rings can rotate freely without pinching the lips
